USC Track & Field Athletes Receive the Most Marks Foundation Awards
May 14, 2009
Stenn Parton received the Gimble Award and 10 track and field athletes were honored as 2009 Marks Foundation Scholar-Athletes at the David X. Marks Foundation Luncheon today (May 14) at the Founders Room in the Galen Center on the USC campus.
Parton was chosen the Gimble Award recipient as the student-athlete who was deemed the most cooperative/a complete team player. He also was a keynote speaker at the event for his work in the community with the SCORE program (Servicing Community through Outreach, Recreation and Education).
The track and field team had 10 Marks Foundation Scholar-Athletes (3.0 or better GPA and on scholarship), more than any other USC athletic program. The men's track and field team had Colin Campbell, Desmond Hamilton, Jason Price and Manjula Wijesekara qualify, while the women's team had Kristine Busa, Zsofia Erdelyi, Frida Flodstrom, Elizabeth Olear, Judith Onyepunuka and Julia Rozenfeld.
