The 2009 Pac-10 Champion UCLA Bruins earned the No. 2 seed and the Conference automatic qualifying spot as the NCAA announced its field for first round regional action. The Pac-10 sends six teams into the postseason, with five teams earning one of 16 NCAA seeds: No. 2 UCLA, No. 3 Washington, No. 8 Stanford, No. 9 Arizona, No. 10 Arizona State and California.

Stanford, UCLA, and Arizona State will host regionals at their home stadiums, in the double elimination regionals.

Only nine schools, four of which are Pac-10 teams, have been crowned the NCAA Division I softball champion since the tournament started in 1982, and all are in this year's bracket.
