Post-Regional Quotes from Head Coach Steve Desimone
That's kind of been the story from the season, and it's been the history of our experience at the regionals. We have had a difficult time getting started in that first round. We had a great round yesterday and I was proud of the way the guys brought themselves back. There's never been an ounce of quit in this team.
On whether he can put the season into perspective coming off a bitter finish over the last nine holes in Austin:
When we made turn, for whatever reason, we couldn't keep the momentum. Looking at the season, it was a disappointing finish but overall it's been a good year. Anytime you win a tournament and make a regional, you've had a really good year.
On the optimistic outlook for the future considering that a sophomore, George Gandranata, and a first-year player, junior transfer John Murphy, were the Bears' top finishers at the regional:
Hopefully this is a step toward bigger and better things. We'll always remember the contributions from George Gandranata and Michael Jensen. When I look at how hard these guys worked and what they did, there's a lot of good things to remember. The young guys did a good job. Stephen Hale, John Murphy and Eric Mina, they've been solid players all year and there's a lot to build from. The future is bright. They've done everything we've asked and then some. As coaches, when you can look back on that, we feel pretty good about it also.
