WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- WASHINGTON STATE senior outfielder Jared Prince has been named the Pac-10 Baseball Player of the Week and ARIZONA STATE junior right-handed pitcher Mike Leake has been named Pitcher of the Week for May 11 - 17, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Prince led Washington State to a 4-2 record last week, including a 2-1 series victory at Oregon State. The Poulsbo, Wash., native hit .478 (11-for-23) with a home run, two doubles and 10 RBI for the Cougars. He began the week 3-for-4 with three RBI in WSU’s 10-2 win to complete the series sweep of Oregon on May 11. Against Portland on May 12, Prince ripped his fifth home run of the season and collected three RBI in the 10-5 Cougar win. He ended the week going 6-for-10 with four RBI in the three-game series with the Beavers. The senior was a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and three, two-out RBI in a 7-6 win on May 15 and posted two hits and another RBI in a 7-6 WSU victory on May 17. For the week, he posted a .696 slugging percentage and a .556 on-base percentage.

This is the first weekly honor for Prince and the 62nd player of the week all-time for Washington State.

Leake registered one of the best games of his career, throwing his first complete-game shutout in a 9-0 win over Oregon on May 15. The Fallbrook, Calif., native allowed just three hits while striking out 12 and walking none. In fact, he only faced two batters over the minimum, as he led the Sun Devils to their third consecutive Pac-10 title with the sweep over the Ducks. Leake tossed his ninth career complete game and fifth this season. He posted his 13th win of the year, tying his career high. He also established a new season high in strikeouts, as he has now fanned 116 batters on the year. All five of his complete games this season have come against Pac-10 opponents, who are hitting just .174 against the righty.

This marks the third weekly pitching honor for Leake, all coming this season, and the 55th overall for Arizona State.
