Barte, Burdette Open Play At NCAA Championships In Singles, Doubles

STANFORD, Calif.- Stanford will be represented by sophomore Hilary Barte and junior Lindsay Burdette in the NCAA Championship singles and doubles draw when competition gets underway Wednesday at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station, Texas.
Barte, who will be participating in both tournaments, begins play on Wednesday, May 20, in the singles draw. Seeded No. 7 in the tournament, Barte will square off against Baylor's Lenka Broosova at 10 a.m. PT.
Barte, ranked No. 7 in the nation, leads Stanford with a 33-5 overall mark. Playing all of her matches at the No. 1 position, Barte has won 24 of her last 26 matches overall and is 21-5 against nationally-ranked opponents this year. The All-American reached the second round of last year's NCAA Singles Championship before being upset by Broosova 6-3, 6-2.
In doubles, Stanford's top team of Barte and Burdette will oppose North Carolina's Austin Smith and Katrina Tsang when doubles play begins Thursday, May 21.
Ranked No. 8 in the country, Barte and Burdette are 23-7 overall this year. The duo has been hot recently, riding a nine-match winning streak while posting an 11-6 mark against nationally-ranked opponents. When Stanford battled North Carolina back in February, Barte and Burdette were defeated by the Tar Heels' Sanaz Marand and Sophie Grabinski 8-3.
