WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Oregon State senior rower David Weir has been named to the 2009 All-Pac-10 team as announced Wednesday by Commissioner Tom Hansen.
Weir (Folsom, Calif.) has been a mainstay in the Beavers' Varsity 8+ crew during the season, primarily rowing in the two seat. He helped the V8+ to a fourth place finish at the Pac-10 Championships and is preparing to row in Oregon State's 15th consecutive appearance at the IRA Championships.
Over the summer prior to the 2008-09 season, Weir represented the United States at the U-23 World Championships in Brandenburg, Germany. His heavyweight four crew finished fifth, in between Croatia and Serbia.
Outside of rowing, Weir is a volunteer firefighter at the Corvallis Fire Department. He was named an Everyday Champion during the 2006-07 season.
