Valerie Arioto Earns Invitation to US National Team Tryouts

California Golden Bear pitcher/first baseman Valerie Arioto has been invited to the 2009 USA Softball National Team Selection Camp June 8-12 in Chula Vista, Calif.
Arioto was a first team All-Pac-10 and First Team All-Pacific Region selection this season for the Bears, playing at first base and pitching for the team. Arioto batter .325 with 10 home runs, leading the Bears with 37 RBI. As a pitcher, she amassed a 14-9 record with a 2.40 ERA, logging 173 strikeouts. Arioto also posted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage, not making an error all season in 244 opportunities.
The Women's National Team Selection Committee will hold the 2009 USA National Team Selection Camp June 8-12 at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif, with the US National Team selected from participants at the camp. The 2009 National Team will train from June 29-July 2 in Chula Vista before heading to Surrey, BC for the Canada Cup (July 3-12), Oklahoma City for the World Cup IV (July 13-20) and Sendai City, Japan for the Japan Cup (July 28- Aug. 3). The team will also play at the Pan Am Games Qualifier in Maracay, Venezuela at a date yet to be determined.
