4x100m, Quinn, Rowe and Hobson Added To NCAA Championship Field

June 2, 2009

The NCAA has announced the final list of athletes accepted into the Outdoor Championships, held June 10-13 in Fayetteville, AR and several Bruins made the cut.

Sophomore Taylor Hobson, sophomore Johnny Quinn, sophomore Lindsay Rowe and the men's 4x100m relay were added to the field of competitors. To be considered, athletes needed to place in the top-12 at regionals and then their spot on the descending order list was considered.

Hobson tied for seventh in the high jump and heads to Nationals with a top mark of 7-1 (tied for 8th-best in the NCAA).

Quinn finished sixth in the pole vault after a sudden death jump off at regionals and is tied for 10th heading into the meet with a top mark of 17-7.

Rowe was ended out by thousandths of a second, finishing sixth at regionals in the high hurdles, but will make the trip to Arkansas with the 24th-best time.

The 4x100m relay finished ninth at regionals after anchor leg Brandon Smith pulled a hamstring down the stretch, but an at-large berth was given and the Bruins head to Arkansas ranked 14th (39.71).

Sophomore Greg Woepse still could be added to the NCAA field in the pole vault, but his status will not be known until Thursday. The NCAA has a limit as to how many total athletes can compete at Nationals, and Woepse is one of four who will find out if they are added on Thursday.

Athletes who earned auto bids at regionals were - Karlton Rolle (200m), Cory Primm (800m); Nelson Rosario (LJ), Jonathan Clark (TJ); Bo Taylor (SP); Boldizsar Kocsor (HT); Yasmin Woodruff (200m); Krystin Lacy (400m); Krishna Curry (800m); Nicole Leach (400mH); Rhonda Watkins (LJ); Danielle Watson (LJ); and the women's 4x400m relay.
