Three Huskies Named Pac-10 All-Academic

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Three Husky starters from their NCAA Round of 16 squad were named to the Pac-10 All-Academic team the conference office announced this week. Sophomore Venise Chan led the way with a First Team selection.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and have started in at least half of a team's dual matches during the spring. They also must have spent at least one full year at the institution.
Chan is one of just two players in the conference named to both the All-Pac-10 First Team and the All-Academic First Team. The Hong Kong, China native finished the year ranked 25th in singles by the ITA. She is a business major and owns a 3.74 grade-point average.
Juniors Joyce Ardies and Aleksandra Malovic both earned Second Team standing after being honorable mentions a year ago. Washington's fifth and sixth singles players, Ardies and Malovic both had easily their best seasons, each winning over 20 matches for the first time. Ardies owns a 3.53 GPA as an international business major and Malovic has a 3.51 in sociology.
