Kristina Löfman Named Pac-10 Newcomer of the Year

BERKELEY - California freshman Kristina Löfman was named the Pac-10 Newcomer of the Year, the conference office announced on Wednesday, June 3. An internationally experienced rower, Löfman rowed for the top boat, the varsity 8+, for most of her first year as a Golden Bear. She rowed in the three seat for the varsity 8+ when it placed third in the NCAA Women's Rowing Championships and finished second in the Pac-10 Championships, which enabled Cal to win the overall Pac-10 title.
Rowing for her native Norway, the 5-11 Oslo product took fourth place in doubles sculling in the 2007 Junior World Championships in Beijing and also placed 16th in doubles sculling in the 2006 junior worlds in Amsterdam. She has been the Norwegian champion in doubles sculling, fours sculling, the 8+ and senior 4+.
