Wyatt Sets National HS Record In CIF 300m IH Prelims
June 6, 2009
USC recruit Reggie Wyatt set the national high school record in the 300m intermediate hurdles with a time of 35.02 in the preliminary round of the CIF Track & Field Championships being held at Veterans Stadium in Clovis, Calif. on Friday (June 5).
Wyatt's time of 35.02 was more than two and one-half seconds faster than the next qualifier and broke the old national record of 35.28 set by Jeshua Anderson in 2007. Anderson has since gone on to win the Pac-10 400m IH title in his freshman and sophomore seasons as well as the NCAA Championship in the event last season.
Wyatt will enroll at USC in the fall as will jumper Alitta Boyd who also advanced to the state finals which are being held on June 6. Boyd had a long jump of 19-2 1/2 to place fifth in the prelims and a wind-aided triple jump of 41-4 which was second among the first-round participants.
