June 8, 2009

USC Director of Track and Field Ron Allice was named the 2009 NCAA West Region Men's Head Coach of the Year today (June 8) by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Coach Allice helped guide his young Trojan men's squad to a second-place finish at the Pac-10 Championships held in Eugene, Ore., then came back two weeks later to the capture the NCAA West Regional title by overcoming the Ducks on their home track on the final day. For Allice and USC it was the fourth NCAA West Regional championship won in five seasons.

He also guided the men's and women's teams to victory vs. UCLA in the Dual Meet for the first time in the same season. USC has had 17 track and field athletes this season that either moved into the Trojans' all-time top 10 lists or bettered their previous standing.
