Hicks and Kossowsky Named All-Americans
June 9, 2009
Hicks (100 Mile House, B.C.), is the first Beaver to be named to the first team since Julia White-Hoppe in 2003. The senior has rowed in the stroke seat of Oregon State's No. 13 Varsity 8+ crew for the entire 2008-09 season and has been a member of OSU's top crew since she arrived on campus for the 2005-06 season. Hicks has already been named to the CRCA All-Region first team, as well as the 2009 All-Pac-10 team.
As a junior, Kossowsky (Leipzig, Germany) was named to the CRCA second team after rowing primarily in the four seat of the V8+ during her second year in the Beavers' top crew. Along with Hicks, Kossowsky was honored as a member of the first team all-region by the CRCA.
Hicks and Kossowsky were an integral part of the Beavers' V8+ that finished third at the Pac-10 Championships, the highest finish by an Oregon State V8+ since 2000. The result led to the OSU's first appearance at the NCAA Championships in nine years, where they raced to a 15th overall finish.
