ROSLYN, Wash. -- After passing one very tough test on Monday, Nick Taylor faces another today.
The 21-year-old Abbotsford amateur, who earned his second straight ticket to the U.S. Open with a brilliant performance at a 36-hole sectional qualifier at the Suncadia resort east of Seattle, headed straight back to the University of Washington on Monday night to prepare for the final exam of his junior year.
'It's climate change, a weather course,' Taylor said. 'I had to reschedule it to play on Monday, so I'll be hitting the books tonight.'
The best weather word to describe Taylor's golf game these days is hot. Or maybe sizzling. On Monday, with a 36-man field chasing just two spots into the U.S. Open, Taylor reeled off four straight birdies to start his round en route to a five-under 66 at the Tumble Creek course in Roslyn, Wash.
