Former Oregon State University student-athletes Andy Levitre (Leh-VEE-tree) and Saori (Sore-ey) Haruguchi (Hera-gouchi) have been awarded Tom Hansen Pac-10 Conference Medals.
Levitre, from Ben Lomand, Calif., was a three-year starter and four-year letterman for head coach Mike Riley. The right tackle was a 2008 Pac-10 First Team selection and was honored for his academic achievements by the conference four straight years. Levitre was a 2009 second round NFL Draft selection of the Buffalo Bills.
Haruguchi, from Fukuoka, Japan, leaves OSU as the school’s most decorated swimmer. She earned NCAA All-American honors 10 times and was the 200-butterfly national champion in 2008. She also holds numerous school records and competed in the 2008 Olympic Games for Japan.
A Conference Medal is awarded annually to each member institution’s outstanding senior male and female student-athlete based on the exhibition of the greatest combination of performance and achievement in scholarship, athletics and leadership.
