ESPN College FB Show Visits Tucson
June 11, 2009
TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona football coach Mike Stoops will appear on ESPN’s “College Football Live 50 States Tour” today as the show makes its stop in Arizona.
Stoops, who is entering his sixth season as head coach, is scheduled to be interviewed during the live broadcast, which can be seen on ESPN as the show begins at 12:30 p.m. (MST). The show will re-air on ESPN2 at 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m., and then once again tonight at 6 p.m. on ESPN.
The show is moving across the country to highlight college football in each state throughout the summer, and the Grand Canyon state will be the 11th on the tour.
Arizona football fans can participate in online voting to support a pair of Arizona’s greatest teams in school history – the 1993 Fiesta Bowl championship team and the 1998 Holiday Bowl championship team. The two teams are among five selections for the “which team was the best in state history” poll question on the website.
Stoops led the 2008 Arizona team to a 31-21 victory over No. 17 BYU in the Las Vegas Bowl last December, which marked UA’s first bowl game – and bowl victory – since the tremendous 1998 season.
A pair of former UA coaches – Dick Tomey and Jim Young – also are listed amongst five candidates for “who is the best coach in state history” poll question.
Fans who wish to vote in the online polls can do so here.
