June 15, 2009
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Former Bruin All-Americans and Olympians Andrea Duran and Natasha Watley, as well as current UCLA players Megan Langenfeld and Katie Schroeder, will don the red, white and blue for Team USA during four separate tournaments this summer.
Duran and Watley were named to the 2009 USA Softball Women's National Team and will compete at the Canada Cup in Surrey, B.C. (July 4-12) and the KFC World Cup of Softball in Oklahoma City (July 16-20). Duran and Watley were both on the 2008 U.S. Olympic squad that won the silver medal at the Beijing Games. Watley, who will also play at the Japan Cup in Sendai, Japan (July 31-Aug. 2), won a gold medal with the 2004 team in Athens.
Duran, Langenfeld and Schroeder will represent the United States at the Pan American Qualifier in Maracay, Venezuela (July 31-Aug. 9). Langenfeld and Schroeder were two of six Bruins to take part in last week's U.S. National Team selection camp, but this won't be the first time they have worn the red, white and blue on the softball diamond. The duo helped lead the USA Softball Junior Women's National Team to gold at the ISF Junior Women's World Championships in June 2007.
