Future, Current & Former Bruins To Compete At USA Track & Field Championships

Future, current and former Bruins will head to Eugene, Oregon June 25-28 for the 2009 USA Track & Field Junior and Senior National Championships in the hopes of qualifying for the World Championship team or Junior PanAm team.
The top three finishers in each event in the senior section of the meet who have achieved the IAAF 'A' standard will be named to the World Championship team. For the PanAm junior team, the top two finishers in each event will qualify.
Several Bruins from the 2009 team will be in action as Nicole Leach (400m hurdles), Katy Viuf (pole vault), Boldizsar Kocsor (hammer) and Cory Primm (800m) will compete in the senior meet. Jamal Alston (100m/200m), Trent Perez (decathlon), Nigel Davies (shot put), Yasmin Woodruff (100m/200m) and Ryann Krais (heptathlon) will compete in the junior meet.
Incoming freshmen Turquoise Thompson (400m hurdles), Randall Carroll (100m), Mason Finley (shot put/discus) and Matt Kosecki (discus) will compete in the junior meet as well.
Numerous Bruin alumni will compete in the senior meet - Brandon Johnson (400m hurdles), Meb Keflezighi (10,000m), Amy Acuff (high jump), Chelsea Johnson (pole vault), Suzy Powell Roos (discus), Jessica Cosby (hammer), Dawn Harper (100m hurdles), Michelle Perry (100m hurdles) and Sheena Johnson Tosta (400m hurdles).
Volunteer women's coach Bob Kersee will also have several of his athletes competing this weekend in the senior meet including Shawn Crawford, Ginny Powell, Kerron Clement and Allyson Felix.
The meet will be televised beginning on Friday from 8-10 pm on ESPN. ESPN will also broadcast from 7:30-9:30 pm on Saturday, while NBC will run coverage from 4-6 pm on Sunday. All tv times are EST.
