STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford returners Cami Levin and Teresa Noyola, and incoming freshman Courtney Verloo, helped the United States under-20 national team to a victory and a draw in a pair of late June international friendlies in Germany.
The team, preparing for the biennial FIFA U-20 World Cup to be played in Germany in 2010, beat the U-19 English national team, 4-1, and drew with the German U19s, 2-2.
Verloo started both matches in defense, Levin came on as a defensive substitute in the 67th minute against England on June 22, and Noyola received a start in the midfield during for the Germany match June 26, during which the U.S. rallied from a two-goal deficit.
Noyola and Levin each were named first-team Freshman All-Americans by Soccer America in 2008 and Verloo, from Tualatin, Ore., comes to Stanford with extensive experience in the U.S. national team program, including on the U.S. FIFA U17 World Cup squad.
