UCLA's Gerrit Cole Helps Team USA No-Hit Guatemala, 10-0

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - UCLA right-hander Gerrit Cole recorded 11 strikeouts in 5.2 hitless innings, combining with three relief pitchers to help the U.S. National Team no-hit Guatemela, 10-0, Thursday evening at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium.
Cole (2-0) earned his second victory in as many starts for the U.S. National Team, walking four batters in 5.2 innings. He combined with Asher Wojciechowski (1.0 IP, The Citadel), Nick Pepitone (1.1 IP, Tulane) and Chad Bettis (1.0 IP, Texas Tech) on the nine-inning no-hitter.
Team USA scored one run in each of the second and fourth innings before expanding its cushion to 9-0 with a seven-run seventh inning. The U.S. National Team scored its 10th run in the eighth inning.
With the victory, Team USA improved to 7-0 on its summer National Team Tour. The U.S. National Team combined for 15 strikeouts on Thursday, one day after compiling 24 strikeouts in a 15-1 victory over Guatemala on Wednesday.
In his previous start, Cole limited Canada to three hits in 6.2 scoreless innings on Friday, June 26. The right-hander from Santa Ana, Calif., registered 12 strikeouts and one walk in that victory.
