Another Strong Showing for the Cardinal at Trials

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana-- Kate Dwelley swam in her second Final in as many days at the U.S. World Championship Finals, finishing in seventh place in the 200 freestyle. Dwelley (Brentwood, CA) reached the Finals by placing seventh in the preliminaries (1:59.45), bettering the time to 1:58.57 in the Finals. She was seventh yesterday in the 100 butterfly.

Freshman Betsy Webb (Wilmette, IL), after coming in as a 43rd seed, reached the “C” Final in the 100 backstroke, posing a time of 1:03.06 for fifth place.

Whitney Spence (San Diego, CA) has had a strong couple of days at the Trials. Spence came in with the 76th-best time in the 200 freestyle and moved up to 39th with a posting of 2:02.46, while in the 400 freestyle on Tuesday, she finished 12th overall, and fourth in the “B” Final (4:15.51) after being seeded 53rd.

The Trials run through July 11.
