Dunford Sixth at Worlds in 50 Butterfly

ROME, Italy-- Senior Jason Dunford finished sixth in the 50-meter butterfly, in the first of three events for the Stanford All-American at the World Aquatic Championships. Dunford's time of 23.04 was the best of the two-day competition, as Dunford went from a time of 23.40 in the preliminaries, to 23.10 in the Semifinals.
Dunford, a three-time medalist at the World University Games in Serbia earlier this month, reached the Finals after placing seventh in the Semifinals.
Dunford is expected to compete in the 100-meter freestyle on Wednesday and 100-meter butterfly on Friday. He is one of six Stanford athletes at the World Aquatic Championships in swimming, two on the women's side and four on the men's side.
