CORVALLIS - Oregon State women's golfers Lauren Archer and Cara Freeman continue to prepare for the US Women's Amateur in St. Louis next week, Aug. 3-9.

In preparation, Archer played at the McCall Women's Amateur early this week winning the tournament with a 2-under 140 at the McCall Golf Course in Idaho. Archer, a Boise native, bested her nearest opponent by five strokes. She holds the course record with a round of 66.

Archer and Freeman qualified for the US Women's Am two weeks ago in separate qualifiers. Archer qualified with a third place finish at the Inglemoor Golf Club at Kenmore, Wash. while Freeman's fifth place finish at the Alta Mesa Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz. qualified her to play in St. Louis.

The US Women's Amateur will be played at the Old Warson Country Club which will play as a 6,422-yard par 71 course. The US Women's Am is conducted with 36 holes of stroke-play qualifying. The low 64 scorers then advance to match play, with the champion determined by a 36-hole-match-play final.
