Roseanne Niven Playing in the British Open

LANCASHIRE, ENGLAND -

California Golden Bear senior Roseanne Niven will be competing this week at the Ricoh British Women's Open. Niven earned her spot in the field by winning the 2008 British Amateur.

Niven will be competing against all the top-20 professional players, and 47 of the top-50 players, in the world, including Lorena Ochoa, Cristie Kerr, Paula Creamer, Suzann Pettersen, Angela Stanford, Karrie Webb and Helen Alfredsson. The field will also include the winners of the first three major championships of 2009: Brittany Lincicome (Kraft Nabisco Championship), Anna Nordqvist (McDonald's LPGA Championship Presented by Coca-Cola) and Eun-Hee Ji (U.S. Women's Open).

Cal alum Vikki Lang '03 also qualified for the tournament.
