Rugile Mileisyte Swims in 100 Freestyle at World Championships

July 30, 2009

ROME - Washington State University swimmer Rugile Mileisyte bested her seed time in the 100 freestyle, but did not advance to a semifinal at the World Championships, Thursday.

Competing for her native country, Lithuania, Mileisyte swam a 57.30 good enough for 62nd place and better than 99 swimmers in the event.

'Rugile was a bit off her time this morning,' WSU Head Coach Erica Quam said. 'She bettered her seed time, but her lifetime best was set earlier in the competition. She has a lot of speed right now which is great heading into her last two events. The temperature is in the mid-100s, so it is a challenge to stay hydrated and rested.'
