    2009 TEAM PREVIEW
    The Ducks return eight starters from 2008 and will look to use their upperclass leadership in 2009. There are four experienced seniors in midfielder/forward Teresa Bowns, midfielder/forward Adriana Montes, midfielder Dani Oster and defender Danielle Sweeney. Bowns, Oster and Sweeney have all played in 60 career matches while at Oregon, with Sweeney starting all 60 of those games. The Ducks return leading goal scorer junior forward Jen Stoltenberg who netted 10 goals and collected 25 points last season. On the defensive end, junior Mercedes Walters, who was a starter in midfield in 2008, will see more time on the back line. Oregon brings back goalkeeper Cody Miles, who was a Pac-10 All-Freshman team selection and started all 20 games last year. Miles already ranks third in school history with six career shutouts and five saves.

    The Ducks open with a tough game against powerhouse Portland in Eugene on Saturday, Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. The Ducks travel to face in-state rival Oregon State in the women's soccer version of the Civil War on Friday, Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m. and will lookfor the win after playing to a 0-0 draw in 2008.

    DUCK TO WATCH
    20 • Jen Stoltenberg
    JR • Forward • Mission Viejo, Calif.

    Stoltenberg is fresh off a season where she led the Ducks in scoring with 10 goals. She amassed 25 points in 2008, tying Oregon's all-time single-season points record. An impressive 30 of her 60 shots last year were on goal. After only two seasons with the Ducks, Stoltenberg has climbed the charts in the program's all-time records, tying for fourth with four game-winning assists and is sixth with four game-winning goals. A 2008 Honorable Mention All-Pac-10 pick, Stoltenberger is an explosive striker who maintains great pace on and off the ball and will look to build upon her successes in 2009.
