UCLA Football To Wear Throwback Jerseys For Homecoming Game
Aug. 10, 2009
UCLA Football will celebrate Homecoming this season (November 7th at the Rose Bowl, UCLA vs. Washington) by going back in time to wear a throwback jersey for the first time ever.
The jerseys, replicas of the 1967 edition worn by Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Gary Beban and his teammates, were unveiled at UCLA Football Media Day by head coach Rick Neuheisel. A few of the Bruin players wore the throwback jerseys during the interview and picture session.
In 1967, Beban won the Heisman Trophy and led the Bruins to a 7-2-1 record and a Top 10 national ranking. He will serve as honorary captain of the Homecoming contest against Washington.
The throwback jerseys are available for purchase from the UCLA Store (www.uclastore.com). Orders are being taken now and the jerseys will be shipped in early October.
