STANFORD, Calif. - Three Stanford women have been placed on the Watch List for the Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy, emblematic of the top player in collegiate soccer.
Stanford's representatives are:
This is the third consecutive year O'Hara has been on the list. She was a semifinalist in 2007. For Noyola and Taylor, this is their first.
Altogether, 45 players are on the list to be considered for college soccer's highest honor and Stanford is among six schools to have three players each.
The voting is done by Division I head coaches who are members of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. A list of 15 semifinalists will be selected in November, with three finalists announced in early December. Finalists will be invited to the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis for a news conference on Jan. 8, 2010, where the winner will be announced.
Noyola and Taylor were first-team All-Americans last season and O'Hara was a second-team choice. They led Stanford to a 22-2-1 record and into the NCAA College Cup semifinals last season and combined for 35 goals and 25 assists.
The men's Hermann Trophy has been awarded since 1967, with the women's first awarded in 1988. Stanford has yet to win the trophy, but Marisa Abegg (2008), O'Hara, Rachel Buehler (2006) and Nicole Barnhart (2004) have been semifinalists.
