Corvallis, Ore. -
FSN Northwest and Oregon State University announced Wednesday that the Sept. 5 football season opener at Reser Stadium against the Portland State Vikings will be televised live beginning at 11:30 a.m., with kickoff expected at approximately 11:35 a.m.
The addition of the FSN Northwest telecast guarantees the first three games of the 2009 season will air on live television, joining the Sept. 12 matchup at UNLV on CBS College Sports HD and the Sept. 19 contest at home vs. Cincinnati on FSN. In addition, the Beavers’ Oct. 24 game at USC will air on ABC or ESPN and the Dec. 3 date at Oregon is scheduled for ESPN. Additional televised games will be announced during the course of the season.
“This is a great opportunity to not only showcase the Oregon State football program, but Portland State’s as well,” Beaver Director of Athletics Bob De Carolis said. “The early kickoff, which is imperative for television coverage, also will hopefully give the fans of both programs an opportunity to take full advantage of the Labor Day weekend.”
Oregon State, ranked No. 25 in the USA Today Preseason Coaches’ Poll, enters the year with a streak of 18 consecutive live televised games.
FSN Northwest, OSU’s regional cable partner, delivers more than 350 live events each year – all of which are also available in high definition on FSN HD - to more than 3.4 million cable and satellite homes in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska.
