Dumais Finishes Fifth in the 1m Springboard Finals

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.-- Stanford's Dwight Dumais finished in fifth place in the Finals of the AT&T USA Senior National 1-Meter Springboard Championship, scoring a final round score of 370.10, losing to his brother, Troy, who scored 424.90 points.
In the preliminaries, Dwight Dumais reached the Finals following a seventh place showing. His score of 343.10, trailed leader Terry Horner's 393.60 points. Dumais' highest tally came on a reverse 2 1/2, followed by a 2 1/2 twist, when he totaled 67.50 points. His best marks came in the 2 1/2 pike, when three judges scored his dive at 8.5, and another two had 8.0 scores. The overall score for his second dive was 63.70.
Fellow Cardinal Taylor Sishc finished 14th in the preliminaries with a score of 304.60. His best dive came on his fourth attempt, when he scored 55.50 points on a 2 1/2 tuck. He also scored 53.30 points on a 2 1/2 pike.
Sishc will also compete in the men's platform on Friday, while Dumais is slated for the Finals of the 3-meter springboard on Saturday. Carmen Stellar will dive in the women's platform on Friday as well.
