Women's Rowers Advance at Canada Games

PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND, Canada - A trio of Oregon State women's rowers advanced to the finals of the Canada Games as Bonnie Chilibeck, Andrea Harvey and Patricia Obee (all representing British Columbia) won their preliminary heats at the annual regatta on Monday.
Chilibeck (coxswain) and Harvey (rower), members of British Columbia's women's eight squad, led their team to a first-place finish of the day's second heat in a time of 4:05.98. It was the second-fastest qualifying time of the day, trailing only Ontario, which qualified in a time of 4:05.46.
In the lightweight women's pair, Obee (an incoming freshman) paired with Elizabeth Fenje to finish first in the qualifying heat with a time 5:06.87. The duo had the second-fastest qualifying time of the day, trailing only Ontario, which captured their heat in a time of 5:04.77.
With the wins, the squads advance to the finals of the Canada Games, to be held on Thursday, August 20.
