Black Wins Orange and Black Scrimmage, 2-1

Corvallis, Ore. – The black squad took the Orange and Black Scrimmage in a 2-1 decision on Saturday afternoon in legendary Gill Coliseum.
Set scores were 12-25, 25-17, 15-8.
“I think it’s a great dress rehearsal for our first tournament and gives us a good glimpse of the freshmen in game conditions,” Taras Liskevych said.
The two teams were split up differently for each set with the setters splitting time on both sides of the net for the first set, the team split up in the “A” and “B” groups and then split evenly for the last set to 15.
Leading the defense was sophomore libero Betsy Devich (Kirkland, Wash.) with nine digs. Junior Jill Sawatzky (St. Andrews, Manitoba) came in close with eight, adding four kills and a block. Middle blockers senior Lexie Rathgeber (White Rock, British Columbia) and freshman Ashley Eneliko (Seattle, Wash.) with Rourke led the team with four blocks each.
In the setters’ race, senior Camilla Ah-Hoy (Laie, Hawai’i) had 23 assists adding four digs. Junior Kaitlan Locke (West Linn, Ore.) added 15, while freshman Megan McBride (Auburn, Wash.) racked up nine.
