EUGENE, Ore. -- Starting four freshmen, the Oregon women's soccer team held No. 4 Portland scoreless for 38 minutes and put a charge into the opening night record crowd of 1,279 at Pape' Field before the Pilots finally broke through the Oregon defense late in the first half and added another pair of scores in the second frame for a 3-0 win in the season opener for both teams. Chapel Hill, N.C. - The third-ranked UCLA women's soccer team dropped its 2009 season opener on Saturday evening, as top-ranked North Carolina posted a 7-2 victory over the Bruins before 3,372 fans at Carolina's Fetzer Field. No. 8 USC Falls in Opener at No. 7 Texas A&M 
COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS - The No. 8 USC women's soccer team pulled a tough opponent for its 2009 season opener, taking a trip to No. 7 Texas A&M. Although the Trojans were playing on the site of their 2007 NCAA Championship, the Aggies had the winning touch on the night. Texas A&M rode the momentum of a late first-half goal toward a 3-0 win over USC on Saturday night at Aggie Soccer Stadium.
