TULSA, Okla. - Washington State men's golfer Nick Grigsby completed the first round of the U.S. Amateur Championships, Monday, at the Cedar Ridge Country Club. The Senior from Spokane Valley, Wash. won a qualifying tournament in Montana to advance to the national tournament.

'I am really proud that Nick won the Montana qualifier to get a spot in the U.S Amateur,' said WSU Head Coach Walt Williams. 'He is only the fifth player in my 12 years of coaching to make it into this prestigious event.'

Grigsby posted a score of 84 during the first round and will begin the second round Tuesday, with hopes of being inside the top 64 who will move on to the final rounds.
