Cal Volleyball Issues Season Ticket and E-Newsletter Challenge

BERKELEY - The California volleyball team is challenging its fans to help expand its season ticket holder base and grow the team's E-newsletter. Season ticket holding fans will be eligible to win free tickets among other prizes as different goal thresholds are met through the challenge.
In 2008, the Golden Bears sold 75 volleyball season tickets. The goal for 2009 is to double that number by the day of the home opener on Friday, Sept. 11, when Cal faces Eastern Washington in a 7 p.m. match at Haas Pavilion. The current season-ticket holder count stands at 40. As of Aug. 25, there were 750 volleyball E-newsletter subscribers. The goal is to reach 1,000 subscribers by the day of the home opener.
In order to reach these goals, Cal volleyball is offering up prizes to season ticket holders and E-newsletter subscribers dependent on the total numbers reached.
2009 Cal Volleyball Season Ticket Challenge Prize Schedule 100 overall season tickets sold - all season ticket holders receive two (2) additional free tickets to the Stanford match ($20 value) 125 overall season tickets sold - all season ticket holders receive four (4) additional free tickets to the Stanford match ($40 value) 150 overall season tickets sold - all season ticket holders receive four (4) additional free tickets to the Stanford match and two (2) additional free tickets to the Oregon State match ($60 value)
2009 Cal Volleyball E-Newsletter Challenge Prize Schedule 1,000 Subscribers - all E-newsletter subscribers receive two (2) free tickets to a select Pac-10 volleyball match ($20 value)
In addition, if at least 100 season tickets are sold and/or the goal of 1,000 E-newsletter subscribers is reached by Sept. 11, Cal volleyball will be selecting random season ticket holders to serve as its Special Assistant Coach for a match at select home matches. The Special Assistant Coach will get to sit on the bench during the match, as well as meet coaches and players prior to the match.

Cal returns two All-Americans from a year ago including two-time selection senior outside hitter Hana Cutura. Junior setter Carli Lloyd received second-team All-America honors and All-Pac-10 recognition a year ago. The Bears also bring back plenty of firepower via starting senior middle hitter Mindi Wiley and two 2008 Pac-10 All-Freshman selections in sophomores Tarah Murrey and Shannon Hawari.
