Ziegler and Kemmer Advance to the Round of 32 at U.S. Amateur

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford junior Steve Ziegler and recent graduate Dodge Kemmer both won their first round matches today at the 109th U.S. Amateur Championships being held at the 7,093-yard par-70 Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Ziegler, who finished t-20 in the stroke play competition, ousted Jackson Beindorf, 5&3 while Kemmer scored a decisive 6&5 victory over Eric Steger.
Ziegler will face University of Florida standout Will Strickler while Kemmer will square off against University of Louisville sophomore Connor Arendell, who eliminated David Chung today, 2&1.
The winners will punch their tickets into Friday's quarterfinal matches.
The semifinals are scheduled for Saturday while the 36-hole championship match will be contested on Sunday.
