Cats fall to San Diego

TUCSON, Ariz.--Arizona women’s soccer (0-2-1) lost to the University of San Diego (2-1-1), 4-1 Sunday night in Tucson.
The Toreros scored the game winning goal in then 53rd minute when Hallie Huston hit a straight shot into the net, assisted by Stephanie Ochs.
In the 26th minute, junior Leila Amini scored the only Wildcat goal, off of a free kick from nineteen yards out.
Arizona’s last chance at scoring came in the 88th minute, but Amini’s shot went wide. In all, Arizona attempted 15 shots, compared to San Diego’s 10.
“Obviously, this was a disappointing loss,” said head coach Dan Tobias, “We had a nice first goal by (Leila) Amini, but our first two major mistakes turned into goals for San Diego. Having them score three unassisted goals is pretty hard to swallow, but we have to move on, and start capitalizing more on our scoring opportunities.”
Up next, the Wildcats head to Tempe to take part in the Sun Devil Desert Classic. On Friday, the Cats will take on Virginia at 4:30 p.m. and on Sunday they will go up against Old Dominion at 11 a.m.
