Golfers Mackenzie And Tallman Have Top 10 Finishes In Oregon

Portland, Ore. -- Former Husky Paige Mackenzie and current Husky Brittany Tallman had top-10 showings in different tournaments in Oregon this weekend. Mackenzie tied for eighth at the LPGA Safeway Classic in North Plains, while Tallman, a red-shirt freshman, tied for sixth at the PNGA Women's Amateur Public Links Championship in Corvallis.
Mackenzie blistered the Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club course in Sunday's final round, shooting a 6-under 66 to move up from 27th place after two rounds and win $38,830. She finished 9-under overall with a final tally of 207. Mackenzie managed seven birdies on Sunday, while only bogeying one hole.
M.J. Hur shot 13-under 203 overall and needed a playoff hole to win the Safeway Classic title.
Just south of the professionals in Corvallis, Tallman shot a 1-over 73 in Sunday's final round at Trysting Tree Golf Club to finish 4-over 148 overall. The Issaquah, Wash., native finished 10 strokes behind Bellevue's Cathy Kim, who won by two strokes with a 5-under 139 overall.
