Owens named Pac-10 Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Junior outside hitter Tiffany Owens has been named the Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Week for Aug. 24-30, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today.


The San Bernardino, Calif., native earned MVP honors at the Louisville Tournament after leading the Wildcats to victories over Louisville, Belmont and Pittsburgh. 


For the tournament, Owens posted 39 kills (3.90 kps) and a hitting percentage of .344. She tallied 17 kills and 14 digs while hitting .368 against Pittsburgh. The win over Pitt clinched the tournament for the ‘Cats. 


This is the second weekly honor for Owens, and Arizona’s 27th Pac-10 Player of the Week all-time.


This weekend Arizona will host Houston, Nevada and Eastern Washington in the 25th Wildcat Classic at McKale Center.  The Wildcats will play Nevada at 11 a.m. and Houston at 7 p.m. on Friday and Eastern Washington at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
