Sept. 1, 2009
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Two current and two former Arizona swimmers have been honorably named to the 2009-2010 United States National Team.
Jack Brown and Alyssa Anderson, along with alumnae Lara Jackson and Lacey Nymeyer, are four of only 110 swimmers from around the nation featured in this prestigious list. These Wildcats now have the chance to represent the United States against the fastest swimmers in the world.
To qualify for the National Team, swimmers must have one of the top six times in the events at the ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships, the U.S. Open, World University Games and/or the FINA World Championships.
Senior Brown made his qualifying time of 1:57.77 in the 200IM at the World Championship Trials. Brown also qualified in the 400IM at the US Open with 4:12.58.
Entering her sophomore year at Arizona, Anderson qualified for the team with a 200 freestyle time of 1:58.45 at the World Championship Trials.
Alumna Jackson made the National Team this year with her 50 freestyle time of 24.71 at the World Championship Trials.
Nymeyer, another Arizona graduate, made this year's team with qualifying times in both the 100 and 200 freestyle events at the World Championship Trials. Nymeyer was part of the U.S. silver medal 4 x100 freestyle relay team in Beijing.
Members of the USA Swimming National Team receive benefits including reimbursement for team travel and eligibility for Elite Athlete Health Insurance.
The first meet of the season will take place November 6, against UNLV and Wisconsin.
