The Cardinal held a 1-0 halftime lead, despite being outshot 9-2 in the half. John Moore shored up the Cardinal defense by making three first half saves.

Lehigh got on the board early in the second half when Jesse Schram scored in the 49th minute off a throw-in. The Mountain Hawks then took the lead with a Adam Welch goal in the 73rd minute.

Following the go-ahead goal for Lehigh, the Cardinal attack awoke as they put the pressure on for the rest of the game. Lehigh keeper Jonathon Nydell was forced to make two crucial saves to deny Stanford the tying goal.
