Pac-10 Affirms University of Oregon Disciplinary Actions
Sept. 4, 2009
WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--The Pacific-10 Conference has reviewed and endorsed the disciplinary actions taken by the University of Oregon regarding football student-athlete LeGarrette Blount, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today. The university suspended Blount for the remainder of the season as a result of unsportsmanlike conduct following Oregon's game at Boise State. As a result, Blount will not be allowed to play in any further games this season. Blount was involved in a post-game altercation with a Boise State player and a confrontation with fans as he left the field.
'We commend the University of Oregon and its leadership for taking swift and decisive action in response to this incident,' said Scott. 'The Pac-10 strongly emphasizes sportsmanship and fair play in all its athletic competitions and expects high standards of sportsmanship from all participants, including student-athletes. In this case, those standards were not met and the university has taken appropriate disciplinary actions.'
