Charters' USA Jersey Among Items Being Auctioned Off
Sept. 10, 2009
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The Amateur Softball Association (ASA) is hosting a charity auction with items from USA Softball's 2009 'PinkOut Game' against Canada, where Team USA - including former UW All-American Ashley Charters - wore pink Nike uniforms to honor breast cancer survivors and create awareness for breast cancer research. The auction begins on eBay September 10 at 3:00 p.m. CST and will conclude September 20 at 3:00 p.m. CST with all proceeds going to the Central Oklahoma affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure® foundation.
By clicking here, you will not only be able to bid on truly one-of-a-kind memorabilia items, but also help out an organization dedicated to breast-cancer research. In 2008, the auction of pink items raised $25,000 for Susan G. Komen, a total that the 2009 USA Softball Women's National Team hopes to surpass.
The auction includes the game-worn jersey from each player on the team as well as a jersey signed by the entire USA Softball team that competed at the Canada Cup and the KFC World Cup of Softball, both featuring Charters' signature. Also featured are more than 15 items that were specially made for the USA Softball Players to wear during July's pink game at the World Cup. The specialty items include Monica Abbott (Salinas, Calif.) and Cat Osterman (Houston, Texas) cleats, Caitlin Lowe (Tustin, Calif.) batting gloves and a Jennie Finch (La Mirada, Calif.) hair ribbon with her signature logo.
The ASA is also offering fans a chance to bid on a pink jersey signed by USA Softball's entire 2008 Olympic Team, which had its own 'PinkOut' game against Canada during the KFC Bound 4 Beijing Tour.
The one-of-a-kind item includes signatures of Abbott, Osterman and Finch as well as the legends of the game including Crystl Bustos (Canyon Country, Calif.) and Laura Berg (Santa Fe Springs, Calif.). It is one of the last items available from the 2008 Olympic Silver Medal winning team so bid today for a chance to own a piece of history.
Log on and bid on great collector items as well as help out the Central Oklahoma Susan G. Komen Foundation. All items being sold by the ASA to benefit Susan G. Komen are listed at http://myworld.ebay.com/softballoutlet. Any items not listed by Softball Outlet are not a part of the charity auction.
