PAC-10 NOTES

More Tournament Honors... ARIZONA JR OH Tiffany Owens earned MVP honors at the Santa Clara Tournament as she posted 21 kills (3.50 kps), hit .333, and added 21 digs (3.50 dps)... UCLA FR S Lauren Cook earned MVP honors at the Ameritas Players Challenge (10.38 aps, 3.38 dps, 1.15 kps, hit .519)... USC SR L Alli Hillgren was tabbed MVP of the Utah Valley State Wolverine Invitational where she played strong defense in piling up 39 digs (3.90 dps)... While MVP honorees were not awarded at the UNLV Invitational, OREGON STATE SR OH Bree Knitter earned “Most Outstanding Hitter” honors (24 kills/3.43 kps, .300) and teammate SR S Camilla Ah-Hoy was tabbed “Most Outstanding Setter” (11.57 aps).

Streaking... WASHINGTON STATE has opened the season with 10 straight victories, and have won 12 straight dating back to last season. The 10 wins equals last season total number of wins during a 10-19 campaign. The last time the Cougars opened up the season with 10 straight wins was in 2002 when they started 11-0. They 12 straight wins is the longest streak since opening the 1997 season at 16-0... Meanwhile, WASHINGTON has started out a perfect 8-0. And by perfect, we mean eight straight three-set sweeps by the average score of 25-16.13 per set. Out of 24 sets, only three times has an opponent scored more than 19 points in a set against the Huskies.

Numbers Game... ARIZONA STATE JR OH Sarah Reaves is just 14 kills shy of reaching 1,000 kills for her career, STANFORD JR OH Alix Klineman needs 19 kills to reach 1,000 kills... WASHINGTON SR L Tamari Miyashiro needs 18 digs to reach 2,000 digs. She’d be the sixth player in Pac-10 history to reach 2,000 digs. Washington’s school records is 2,038 digs set by Candace Lee (2002-05).

Aces Wild... OREGON tops the nation with 3.21 service aces per set. The Ducks’ JR OH Heather Meyers leads the nation at 1.41 aces per set. In their last match, the Ducks tallied a season-high 16 aces in a four set win over Portland State... CALIFORNIA SR OH Hana Cutura needs two aces to reach 100 for her career. She’s currently tied for 10th on the school’s all-time list with former Bear and current FSN analyst Holly McPeak.
