Women's Soccer Returns Home to Host Nike Invitational

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State women's soccer team returns to action this week as the Beavers take on Dartmouth on Friday, Sept. 18, at 7:00 p.m. in the second game of the Oregon State Nike Invitational. In the opening game of the tournament, Oregon will face Denver at 4:30 p.m.
'We're excited to host a strong field a teams this weekend,' head coach Linus Rhode said. 'The team is looking forward to playing in front of the home crowd and we know we will have to play at a high level in order to win this weekend. All of the matches this weekend should be competitive and fun to watch.'
The Beavers enter the weekend riding a five-game winning streak, its longest since the 2004 season, after a pair of one-goal victories over Seattle and Loyola Marymount last week. Sophomore Ashley Seal connected on the game-winning goals in both matches and is tied for the team lead with three goals and seven points on the season.
The Oregon State defense has also excelled during the win streak as Colleen Boyd and Ashley Wood both picked up victories last week. Entering this weekend's tournament, Oregon State leads the Pac-10 Conference with a 0.67 goals against average.
Dartmouth enters the weekend with a mark of 3-1-0 on the season after the Big Green knocked off No. 12 West Virginia, 1-0, on Sunday. Aly O'Dea leads the Dartmouth attack with a pair of goals on the year while Colleen Hoagan leads the defense, carrying a 0.48 goals against average.
Dartmouth captured the only meeting in series history as the Big Green captured a 1-0, overtime victory against Oregon State last year.
Following the match with the Big Green, Oregon State will return to action on Sunday, Sept. 20, when the Beavers face Denver at 1:30 p.m.
