Pac-10 Squads Take Top Three Positions In Golfweek'S Women's Golf Preseason Poll

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.- In the women’s golf preseason poll, recently released by Golfweek Magazine, 2009 NCAA Champion ARIZONA STATE are tabbed to finish first, USC was picked second and UCLA rounded out the top three, giving the Pac-10 a sweep of the top three rankings.
The defending national champion Sun Devils will look to follow the lead of Golfweek’s No. 2 ranked individual, sophomore Carlota Ciganda. Despite losing two key seniors, the squad has reloaded with talented freshmen Jennifer Johnson, Alessia Knight and Larissa Eruera.
The No. 2-ranked USC Trojans will be led by No. 1-ranked sophomore Jennifer Song. Song was very poised as a freshman and will be looking to improve upon the five second-place finishes she had last season. Along with Song the Trojans have strength in No. 4-ranked junior Lizette Salas and No. 9-rated senior Belen Mozo and will look to return to full strength with contributions from senior Stefanie Endstrasser and freshman Cyna Marie Rodriguez.
Despite losing two All-Americans from last season’s squad, UCLA was picked third in the preseason ranking. UCLA has the tools to reload as No. 3-ranked sophomore Stephanie Kono will look to emerge as a leader and freshman Tiffany Lua will help to fill the shoes of the strong talent lost to graduation.
Pac-10 squads are scattered throughout the rankings, with STANFORD coming in at No. 13 and ARIZONA filling the No. 17 spot. CALIFORNIA and WASHINGTON are also ranked No. 28 and No. 30, respectively.
