Stanford Football Alumni to Participate in The Walk

Sept. 18, 2009

STANFORD, Calif. - The Walk, one of Stanford football's time-honored traditions where players proceed through campus on their way to the stadium before each home game, will feature an added element this year.

The Stanford football program will invite former players identifying with a certain period or theme in Stanford's football history to lead The Walk before each home game.

Prior to Saturday's season opener against San Jose State on Saturday, Darrin Nelson (1977-81), Steve Stenstrom (1991-94), Mike Mitchell (1993-97) and Chuck Evans (1976-79), four alums who played under legendary head coach Bill Walsh, will lead the procession of Stanford players through campus down to the stadium.

The Walk will begin at 4:00 p.m.

Saturday's Bill Walsh Legacy Game will kickoff at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are still available at the Stanford Athletic Ticket Office, on-line at GoStanford.com or by calling 1-800-Stanford.
