Strong Second Round Vaults Stanford Into Tied for Third at Fighting Illini Invitational

STANFORD, Calif. - The top-ranked Stanford men's golf team improved by seven strokes from its opening round score of 295 to vault from ninth to tied for third in the Fighting Illini Invitational being held at the famed Olympia Fields Country Club outside of Chicago.
The Cardinal carded a second round total of 288 for a 36-hole score of 583 and are just six strokes behind first place Arizona State (577) heading into tomorrow's final round. Texas holds on to the second spot with a 36-hole total of 581.
Sophomore David Chung turned in his second consecutive one-over 71 and is tied for seventh, three strokes off the pace of 36-hole leader Max Kiefler of Florida. Junior Steve Ziegler is tied for 10th with at 143 on rounds of 72 and 71. After shooting a five over 75 yesterday, Sihwan Kim carded a 72 today and is currently tied for 23rd.
Freshman Andrew Yun improved by three strokes after yesterday's 77 and is currently tied for 42nd at 151. Junior Graham Brockington shot a 76 today and is tied for 62nd at 156.
The Fighting Illini Invitational concludes with 18 holes tomorrow.
