Best, Butler and Folk Named Pac-10 Football Players of the Week

Sept. 21, 2009

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--Tailback Jahvid Best of California and linebacker Donald Butler and kicker Erik Folk of Washington have been named Pac-10 Players of the Week in football.

Butler, a senior from Sacramento, Calif., and Folk, a sophomore from Woodland Hills, Calif., played major roles in Washington’s 16-13 upset win against No. 3-ranked USC. Butler posted a game-high 12 tackles, 10 solo, including two tackles for loss (-7), forced a fumble deep in Husky territory and had an interception. The Washington defense limited USC to 0-for-10 on third-down conversion attempts and forced three Trojan turnovers, two of them by Butler. Folk kicked the game-winning field goal from 22 yards out with :03 seconds left in the game to provide Washington’s margin of victory against USC. On the day, he was 3-3 on field goal attempts, also connecting from 28 and a career-long 46 yards, and made his only PAT attempt to account for 10 of the Huskies’ 16 points.
