Wrestling and Water Polo Coaches, Athletes to Make Sparky's Tour
Sept. 21, 2009
TEMPE – Student-Athletes and coaches from the Arizona State University water polo and wrestling programs will be joining Spark’s Tour this week as the second year of the popular tour makes it way into Chandler and Phoenix this week. The first full week of Sparky’s Tour opened Monday at Jacobson Elementary School in Chandler will continue throughout the Valley of the Sun this year.
On Tuesday, members of the water polo program will join Sparky at the San Tan Learning Center in Chandler. Then, the wrestling team will join the Tour when it makes a stop on Wednesday at the Camelback Academy in Glendale and then at Lowell Elementary School in Phoenix on Thursday. All of the Sun Devils will be on hand to help encourage students to work hard, make positive choices and spread goodwill.
During the 2009-10 school year, Sparky’s Tour will make appearances at schools beginning the first week of September and continuing through the end of May. Sparky’s Tour will continue to feature ASU coaches, administrators and student-athletes emphasizing the importance of education and that everyone has the ability to be successful if they work hard, focus and follow the rules. Coaches and student-athletes have been through the same struggles that current students face. Utilizing speakers that students can relate to reinforces what teachers and administrators are helping their students to learn.
